Difference: Split rings and Slip rings

Slip rings are used for the transmission of electric current from stationary part to rotating part or vice-versa in an AC machine. the rings are mainly made up of copper, steel.

Split rings are used in the transmission of electric current in DC machines. the ring is divided into two halves so-called as a split ring. the combination of split rings is called a commutator. split rings are also made up of copper. split ring behaves like a mechanical rectifier which means it converts the AC current produced in the armature to DC. it continuously changes the polarity of current, so the consumer can get DC from the external circuit.
